Kota Kinabalu: A 25-year-old man and his 20-year-old girlfriend cheated death after his Wira Aeroback was rammed into by an oncoming Isuzu Invader on Wednesday night.

The 12.30am incident happened after one of the Wira's tyres was punctured and the driver had to stop at the right side of the road.

Both the driver and the passenger went out of the car to check on the tyre.

They did not put any warning sign other than putting on its emergency light.

The Isuzu Invader driver who was going to Kinarut from Kota Kinabalu failed to see the stalled Wira ahead of him and rammed its back at high speed.

Fortunately for the hotel staff and his girlfriend, they saw the Isuzu and stepped out of the way in the nick of time.

The Wira driver suffered minor injuries on his leg after being hit by flying debris from his car. His passenger and the 40-year old Isuzu driver did not suffer any injury.
