Axiata president and GCEO wins TMT Leadership Award

Kuala Lumpur: Axiata Group Bhd's President and Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim, has received the TMT Leadership Award for Asia 2014. The award by TMT Finance recognises outstanding telecom leaders with the foresight to invest in innovative business models for long-term growth of their telecom businesses and for contributing to economic development within their markets."Under the leadership of Jamaludin, Axiata has expanded its subscriber base by 442 per cent and revenue by 77 per cent from 2007 to 2012," it said in a statement Wednesday.

As at end-December 2013, its market capitalisation was more than RM58.9 billion which is among the five largest in Malaysia, and amongst the largest telecommunications companies in Asia, it added.In its commitment of Advancing Asia, Axiata touches the lives of close to 230 million subscribers and employs 20,000 people within its group.
