Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman congratulated incoming Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem, who will replace Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
He also commended Taib for being a visionary leader who brought about vast development in Sarawak during his time as Chief Minister.
"I am confident with Adenan's vast experience, Sarawak will continue to progress and prosper, bringing further development to the State," he said.
Meanwhile, he said, Taib is a true statesman who had dedicated his life to serving the people.
"I wish him well and all the best in the next chapter of his life," he said.
Meanwhile, Umno would give its full support to Adenan, Umno Vice President, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said.
"I pray that all will support him."
Shafie, who is also Federal Rural and Regional Development Minister, said support for Adenan is vital to ensure Barisan Nasional will continue to lead Sarawak.
"Umno would also like to congratulate Taib for rendering good service to Sarawak the past 33 years, The transition, I believe, is done in a manner to ensure continuity in the system," he said.
Shafie said Adenan is a senior politician who has vast experiences, both in the State and Federal level.
"We believe that Adenan will continue to lead PBB as well as Sarawak BN to victory in the next state and general elections as he has the capability to steer the BN to greater heights," said Shafie.
