Samaritan ends up with a black eye and RM800 poorer

Kota Kinabalu: A man who stopped to help another he thought was an injured pedestrian along Jalan Kolombong here, Thursday, ended up with a black eye and left RM800 poorer instead.

The man, who only wanted to be known as Chik, 45, claimed that he was returning home to Inanam when he saw a man lying at the side of the road at about 1am.

"I decided to stop to assist the man who I thought was injured.

However, the moment I parked my vehicle at the roadside, a man opened the door of my vehicle and punched me in the face," he claimed.

"It happened so fast, my spectacles were broken after getting punched in the eye by the man," he said, adding that his sunglasses, Samsung Note 2, iPhone and RM800 were also missing after the incident.

"I was not able to get a clear description of how the man looked like because the of the pain in my eye.

"I managed to drive to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 to get treatment for my injured eye," he said when met at the hospital.

The man who has yet to lodge a police report advised motorists not to stop if they see anything suspicious along the road, particularly after midnight.
