"We received many reports of patients preferring to go to the general hospital despite having to wait longer for their turn because they don't feel confident about receiving treatment at the clinic as there is no doctor around," he said at the opening of Klinik 1Malaysia at Taman Sejati, Semarak, here, Saturday.
Pang, who is also Merotai Assemblyman, said a doctor at the clinic would shift the community's pessimistic perception, besides fulfilling the objectives for the clinic's establishment.
Meanwhile, state Health Director Dr Christina Rundi said the department was forced to close down the ageing health clinic at Sungai Tamang in Pulau Sebatik after being cautioned by the Public Works department that the premises which was also prone to landslips was unsafe to use.
She said a new clinic for the local community would be built once a suitable location was identified.
