National Landscape Day programmes draw 3,000

Kota Kinabalu: About 3,000 people attended the national-level Landscape Day held at Likas Bay Public Park, here, Saturday.

It is held for the first time in Sabah with programmes over three days such as drawing and colouring contest, mural painting contest, photography contest, beach karaoke competition, zumba @ park, buskers performances, flower arrangement contest and others.

The drawing and colouring contest conducted by the Puspanita Sabah branch was participated by 84 pupils and students from 18 schools and was won by Kelvin Sum of SJK (C) Lok Yuk Likas, followed by second prize winner Cindy Voo from SJK (C) Yick Nam, Inanam and Danial Lau in third place.

For the drawing contest, the first and second places were won by Anthony Chong Zhi Yeong and Kevin Chong Zhi Liang from SM Kian Kok. In third place was Michelle Vun Yi Ling from SM Tshung Tsin.

Winners of both contests were given hampers, certificate of participation and cash prize, presented by Puspanita Kota Kinabalu Branch Chairperson, Datin Florence Malangkig, and National Landscape Department Deputy Director, Taib Md Zain.

For the mural painting contest, the first prize winners were Mohd Saiful Reezal, Teo Thuan Hong, Jay Mathius Antas and Olveviane, with the title 'Highlands Landscape', and for the photography contest, it was won by Yong Thau Fui @ Nixon Yong, with the title 'Perdana Park'.

The mural painting contest winners received RM3,500 while the photography contest winner received RM2,000.

There are also 16 booths and stalls set up during the event. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman will do the launching ceremony on March 3.
