Kota Kinabalu: Food lovers now have another option for fine dining with the launch of a new gourmet lifestyle dining outlet in the city.

According to Peak Market cum Tian e Terra Sdn Bhd Chairman, Susan Leong, the dining outlet, which is located at the Peak Vista, offers a combination of food beverages and lifestyle for its guests.

"Our guests have an unique dining experience where they can select dishes and at the same time browse the furniture and fittings that are on display at the premises. Everything from the tables, chairs, utensils and fixtures are available at a reasonable price.

"There is also a gourmet grocery section where one can purchase their favourite brands of imported cheese, local and imported ingredients and a wide selection of imported wines for their own enjoyment at the bistro or at their own homes."

Speaking further on the food offered at the outlet, Leong said the outlet emphasises on good quality of food and wine.

"Our dining guests can order from our creative menu and they can even cook themselves and we also teach people how to cook.

We have Nyonya-Malay cooking classes from Tuesday to Friday and everyone is welcome whether they are tourist or locals.

"We will also be bringing in celebrity chefs and special guest chefs from all over the world to perform here. Tomorrow, for example, we will also be bringing over a Dim Sum chef from Hong Kong to teach Dim Sum cooking. So we are bringing different types of cooking to Sabah to let people here experience it and learn how to cook."

She said the Peak Market can also cater to private events, business functions and product launching events of various sizes.

"We can also arrange special event dinning with western menu where our in-house can cook for you."

Speaking about the launch of the lifestyle and dining outlet, guest of honour, Datuk Gordon Leong, said he felt it is an innovative and new dining concept and a first for the State capital.

"I was made to understand that there is a open kitchen here for the guests to use, so one can bring friends and family and also guests here to dine where you can either order from their menu, use the kitchen to cook or even learn to cook as they can also teach you how. It's easy for those wishing to do so as the kitchen is fully stocked with all the necessary fresh ingredients."

When asked why would people actually want to go to a dining outlet to cook when normally people would go out to avoid cooking at home, he said actually it's a good way for people to entertain their guests without having to worry about the major clean up chores later on.
