Region 4 Marine Operations Force Commander, ACP Mohamad Madun, said the detonators were placed inside sanitary wrappers to avoid detection by the enforcement.
Police also seized RM175, Rupiah 3,700, four Nokia brand mobile phones, two wallets, a Bank Rakyat account book and a handbag.
According to Mohamad, the male suspect is a local from Semporna whereas his companion is believed to be an Indonesian.
"The couple was believed to be the suppliers as they had brought the items in large quantityÉwe are also investigating whether the detonators were used for other crimes besides for fish bombing in Semporna," he said.
He said a team of Marine Operations Force personnel made the arrest after the couple was found acting suspiciously.
He explained that after the team introduced themselves as police, they decided to inspect the luggage brought by the couple and in it there were detonators, red wires together with other items.
