Same registration plate number

Kota Kinabalu: A woman lodged a complaint at the Luyang Assemblyman's Office after receiving a traffic summons issued to a lorry which did not even belong to her.

The summons was apparently issued on the lorry which bore the same registration plate number as her Toyota Vios vehicle.

The woman, known only as Su, claimed that she made the discovery after she went to pay her parking summons only to be told that she has to pay another summons which was issued to the lorry.

She wondered how this situation could have happened and refused to pay the summons until the matter was clarified and rectified, prompting her to approach Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu for help.

Hiew, upon receiving the complaint, contacted the Road Transport Department and was told by the officer that the lorry is definitely using a false number plate because in their record the car owner is the only person registered under that number.

"They said the matter can be rectified and they will investigate once a formal complaint is filed to them," he said.

Hiew urged those with information on the lorry to contact the police or him at 088 254987.
