Kota Kinabalu: Two locals in their 20s were severely injured when an armed group of five to eight men assaulted them at Penampang Baru, near here, Tuesday.
State CID chief SAC Omar Mammah said the incident happened in front of an entertainment outlet during the wee hours. He said one was struck with a sharp object believed to be a flying feather on his back while the other was beaten up by the group with sharp objects.
"The police received a call about a fight at 1.20am.
Upon reaching the scene, they spotted a man sitting on a chair with a sharp object believed to be a 'flying feather' at the back of his neck.
"About 50 metres from the first victim, they saw another victim lying on the ground with severe injuries on his head, hands and body.
Both were sent to hospital and are in stable condition," he said, when met during the 207th Police Commemorative Day officiated by State Police Deputy Commissioner Datuk Abdul Malek Harun at Marin Square at Sabah Police headquarters in Kepayan.
Initial investigation, he said, revealed that revenge was the motive.
