Harley owners achieve feat

Kundasang: The dream of Harley Owners Group (HOG) Malaysia chapter in carrying a Harley-Davidson bike in parts, hiking and climbing 8km up to the summit of Mount Kinabalu at more than 4,000 meters has become a reality.

HOG Malaysia Chapter President and Director Choo Kai Mun said the attempt was part of HOG's effort to promote Malaysia to the rest of the world.

The expedition team led by Sabah Parks Chairman Dato' Seri Tengku Zainal Adlin, Harley owners, dealership technical crew, guides and porters successfully assembled the Harley-Davidson bike and started its engine on Tuesday at 7:51am.

The engine of the Dyna Super Glide Harley contributed by a local Sabahan owner was started at the rockface, at 3,929 meters high just below the summit of the mountain.

The expedition was also part of the promotion and activity that HOG has planned to promote the First Malaysia International HOG Rally Sabah 2014 to be held from Sept 13 to 23.

They have also extended the invitation to Harley Owners all over the world through the various HOG chapter worldwide.

With the success, HOG Malaysia Chapter would apply to insert the expedition in the Malaysia Book of Record or World Guinness Book of Record.

The expedition was in collaboration with Harley Owners Group Malaysia Chapter, NAZA Prestige Bikes Sdn Bhd, Harley-Davidson of Kuala Lumpur, Sabah Tourism Board and Sabah Parks.
