Two killed and three injured in Tawau collision

Tawau: A collision between a Proton Iswara vehicle and a trailer along Km 65 Jalan Tawau-Kunak, here claimed two lives and left three injured early Wednesday.

District Police Chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah identified the deceased as 47-year-old Iswara vehicle driver, Abdul Razak Kamarudin and 16-year-old Ahmad Syaffawie Hamid, who was sitting on the rear passenger seat.

According to him, the first victim sustained fatal head and chest injuries killing him on the spot, while the second victim died on the way to the Kunak Hospital due to severe head injuries.

The three injured are, Nurhazra Usop Ladja, 39 and two-years-old Nurul Ezza Ezana Abdul Razak, who sustained slight arm and leg injuries while five-year-old Sirian Julijin sustained serious head injuries.

Awang said the 7am accident happened as the family was heading towards Sandakan from the district, adding that their vehicle collided head-on with the trailer which was coming from the opposite direction.

He urged those with information on the accident to contact his Investigating Officer Inspector Mohd Faridul Mohamed Yusof at the Tawau Police Department at 089-752222.
