Kota Kinabalu: A PBRS function expected to be held on Saturday is not to receive the Kadamaian Assemblyman Jeremy Ukoh Malazad into the party, but to welcome about 1,000 new members to PBRS, said Secretary General Datuk Dr. Johnson Tee.
He said this to clarify a media statement made by Parti Bersatu Sabah Asst. Sec-Gen Datuk Herbert T Lagadan.
Herbert demanded an explanation from the PBRS President Tan Sri Joseph Kurup and Deputy President Datuk Ellron Angian who are scheduled to be present at the membership handing over ceremony in Kg. Tengkurus, in which Jeremy is expected to be officially accepted into PBRS.
Tee said the claims by the former Kadamaian Assemblyman are incorrect.
"We wish to reiterate that PBRS is committed to strengthen Barisan Nasional in the State.
"We will do our utmost best to recruit more members, especially from the Opposition parties to the Barisan Nasional family, in preparation for the 14th General Election," he said.
Tee said any members from Barisan Nasional component parties, including Herbert, are welcomed to witness the function which will be officiated by Kurup who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.
