Lahad Datu: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) will launch a massive operation in island resorts, following the kidnapping incident at Singamata Island, last Wednesday. Its Director General Datuk Mohammad Mentek said the operation aims to clean the resorts in the Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (Esszone) of foreign workers without valid documents, who have potential to be the informers for transnational criminals.Mohammad said based on the feedback from Esscom intelligence and modus operandi used by the kidnappers, the criminals seemed well aware of the ins and outs of the area, including the occupants of the resort.ADVERTISEMENT "We suspect that there are individuals, particularly locals but who came from the Philippines, providing early information to the kidnappers, and this should not happen," he said in a statement, Saturday.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
