Terengganu: The T-Team football club is trying its luck at recruiting former striker, French-born, Nicolas Anelka who was released by West Bromwich Albion, last month. Its chief operating officer, Syarizan Mohd Zain said the club was still negotiating on the matter with Anelka's agent, who happened to be his brother.

"We hope to agree on the terms and conditions for the former star soon because we want to meet the transfer dateline.

"Although there are some obstructions in our discussions, especially on finances, it does not deter us from pursuing for Anelka's services," he told reporters here Monday.

Syahrizan said the former Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid star was also being courted by several world clubs after leaving West Bromwich Albion on March 29.

He said the Atletico Maneiro club from Brazil had also expressed a desire to get Anelka.

He added however, that Anelka's agent had informed that they had not signed a contract with the club.

"We also received information that several clubs were unable to meet Anelka's salary demand.

But honestly his demand is still within the T-Team's means," he said.

Syahrizan said the T-Team had a contingency plan if Anelka decided not to accept their offer. - Bernama
