M-cycle up in flames after crash

Kota Kinabalu: Two men sustained injuries when the motorcycles they were riding on skidded and crashed at separate locations, here, Saturday. In the first accident, a man in his 40s was thrown off his SYM Naza motorcycle after losing control of it at the traffic light junction near the State police headquarters along Jalan Kepayan, about 3.10am.

It was learnt that he was returning to Putatan from Kingfisher when his motorcycle hit the side of a vehicle, resulting in him losing control of the motorcycle.

The impact caused the motorcycle to go up in flames.

The injured motorcyclist was subsequently sent to the hospital by an ambulance that happened to be plying the route.

A fire engine manned by 10 personnel from the Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene following a distress call about 3.26am.

The motorcycle was already totally razed by the time the team arrived.

The fire was put out about 3.40am.

In the second accident, a man in his 20s sustained facial and bodily injuries after his Honda motorcycle skidded and crashed at the roadside along Jalan Damai.

The impact caused him to be thrown off the motorcycle in the 10.30pm incident.

He was assisted by passersby before paramedics arrived.
