'Field Fix Campaign' for these Mitsubishi cars

Kuala Lumpur: Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, is running a 'Field Fix Campaign' for its 2,200 Mitsubishi Triton Lite Turbo cars sold from April 2012 to December 2013. The exercise was necessary so as to undertake a preventive and safety measure to replace the crankshaft pulley bolt and retighten according to specification, although there have not been any accidents in Malaysia, said MMM in a statement Monday. The effort was initiated by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) in Japan, the principal of Mitsubishi Motors.

MMM has issued notification letters to the affected customers and the full cost will be borne by Mitsubishi Motors for the improvement of the Triton Lite Turbo."We apologise to our customers and regret the inconvenience caused by this predicament. "It is our priority to put our customer's safety first without compromising the quality of the products we offer," said MMM Chief Executive Officer Tetsuya Oda.The company requested that customers make an appointment at any of its Mitsubishi Motors authorised service centres nationwide for the replacement, a process that takes about an hour.

It was a permanent fix to eliminate any possibility of risk to customers, it added. MMM ensures customers that every Triton Lite Turbo undergoing this campaign will be thoroughly checked and the components affected will be replaced in order to guarantee the optimum performance of the vehicle. -Bernama
