Eight teams vying for top honours

Kota Kinabalu: Eight teams will be vying for top honours of the Sabah FA (Safa) Beaufort President Cup Football Challenge 2014 as it kicks off tomorrow (Sunday) at the Beaufort Sports Complex.The tournament is expected to be graced and officiated by the Safa Beaufort President himself, Abdul Razak Sulaiman at 3.30pm, while Safa will be sending representatives led by Deputy President Datuk Lawrence Gimbang and Vice President Joehari Datuk Ayub.During the month-long tournament, the champions will receive RM3,000 prize money, trophies and medals, RM1,500 and trophy and medals for the runners-up while third and fourth place teams will receive RM1,000 and RM500 respectively, plus trophies and medals.

Current State senior players including Andrezinho Reinaldo Esposito, Pocuca Predrag, Jerome Suku Doe and Marwan Sayedeh, together with local teammates Sabri Sahar, Rozaimi Abd Rahman and Rosdin Wasli will also be there to meet up with local fans.Razak hopes that the public, especially those from in and around Beaufort district will come and witness the opening and meet their favorite Sabah players."We are inviting the people of Beaufort to come and witness the opening ceremony as it is also a good opportunity for them to meet up with some of the State's top players."Good support from the public will also make the opening a merrier occasion," said Razak.

According to Razak, who is also the Safa Welfare Committee Chairman, the tournament is aimed at selecting top players to represent Beaufort in the coming Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman Cup championship later this year.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
