Kota Kinabalu: It was a third loss in a row for Sabah as they put up a gallant fight before losing to Felda United 1-2 at the Stadium Majlis Perbandaran Selayan on Friday night. They played an even better game than they did against Penang on Monday and as promised by Milomir Seslija earlier, they took the game to the home team from the start.

However, while they were busy attacking the opponents' half, their defence again fell flat as the home team's counter-attacks resulted in the opening goal by Indra Putra Mahayuddin in the first period.

Sabah received a boost at the restart when Brazilian import Andrea Esposito headed in the equaliser off a free kick taken by Julamti Muhammad from the right.

It was evenly matched after that and it was the home team that managed to break the deadlock after confusion between Pocuca Pedrag and Reithaudin Emran opened the door for substitute Makeche Noumba to sneak in for the winning goal in the 66th minute.

Sabah's new import Jerome Die also had a chance to open his account during the match but his goal-bound shot was cleared by a Felda United defender with the goalkeeper beaten.

The team remain in seventh place after the defeat with 16 points, 11 points behind fourth place Negeri Sembilan for a place in the Malaysia Cup competition.

They will now take a two-week break before their next match against League leaders PDRM at home on May 9.
