'Rural students need to dream big'

Keningau: Rural students need to dream big and put an effort to boost the mindset of the rural communities in the field of academic studies. Parti Bersatu Sabah Youth Chief, Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin, said they need to stop having low self-esteem and grab all the opportunities given by the Government to improve their academic status. "A change is important for us so we can compete with others in future. ADVERTISEMENT Without motivation rural students will always be left behind by the other communities in the world," he said during the launching of the SM Ken Hwa School Target Setting Ceremony, here. Nointin said the transformation ideals laid out by the Prime Minister can become the best motivational advice for the rural students to emulate. He said with good academic qualifications they will no longer be left behind by others, saying there is no denying that a majority of people in the rural areas are lagging behind other communities in many aspects. He also handed over a RM20,000 contribution by Syarikat Jetama to SM Ken Hwa's administration. ADVERTISEMENT About 21 students also received cash and certificates for their excellent performance in various fields in the school.
