Ministry wants to merge PKK and BPU

Kota Belud: The Works Ministry wants to merge its Contractor Service Centre (PKK) with the Entrepreneur Development Division (BPU) and harness their synergy to the maximum for the Bumiputra Empowerment Agenda.

Deputy Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said the strategic amalgamation was aimed at ironing out the hindrances faced by bumiputra contractors and construction entrepreneurs.

"Apart from that, the government hoped the combined synergy would also result in collaboration between bumiputra contractors and entrepreneurs," she said at a corporate social responsibility programme organised by the PKK with the cooperation of the Malaysian Construction Academy, Sabah at Kampung Kulambai Dundau, near here, Saturday.

Rosnah said the PKK would continue to cooperate with other government agencies and non-governmental organisations to develop and help raise the competency of bumiputra contractors.
