Explore possibility of developing sailing at Sepanggar

Kota Kinabalu: Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan believed sailing should explore the possibility of developing the sports at the base of the Royal Malaysia Navy here in Sepanggar bay.He was speaking during a survey of the sports infrastructure in the naval base on Monday.

He said sailing is one of the sports that Sabah is always good at and there is a need to further develop and maintain the powerhouse status and with the cooperation between the ministry and the Royal Malaysia Navy, he hopes more talents in the sport will be produced.

"There are very good natural resources here, and good enough infrastructure which the Sabah Yachting Association and the Sports Ministry do not have. Cooperation is the first step towards the betterment of the sport for the state and country,' he said.

Also present were Navy Chief II for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan Laksamana Muda Dato' Pahlawan Mohammad Rosland Omar, Sabah Sports Board Chairman Datuk Louis Rampas and other officials from the Sports Ministry and the Royal Navy.
