'Allow bankrupts to keep first home'

Putra Jaya: The proposal to allow bankrupt individuals to keep their first house and not auction it off is among the suggestions for the amendment of the Bankruptcy Act 1967, said Minister in Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri. She said it would be one way for the Malaysian Department of Insolvency (MdI) to carry out its social responsibility to help those in dire need. "If they have only one house, where will they go if it's auctioned," she told a press conference here Tuesday.
