Man killed in Ranau mishap

Kota Kinabalu: A 47-year-old man was killed in a mishap at Kg. Kibarambang in Ranau on Monday.

State Fire and Rescue Department Public Relations Officer Mohd Affendy Ramin said personnel from the Ranau Fire and Rescue Department found the man with his head pinned under the front wheel of a Proton Iswara vehicle after receiving a distress call at about 2.54pm.

He said the team managed to shift the vehicle out of the way with a power unit at about 3.30pm.

But paramedics who arrived later pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The remains have been handed over to the police for further action, however Ranau police could not be reached for comments at press time.

In an unrelated incident, a man in his 20s sustained injuries to his legs when his house in Taman Salut Perdana, Jalan KKIP Sepanggar, here, was razed in a 3am fire, the same day.

Mohd Affendy said personnel from the Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Department led by its Operations Chief Azlan Liway Kamis brought the fire under control at about 3.39am.

The man has been sent to hospital while the cause of fire and estimated losses are still being investigated.
