123 rounded up in Tawau

Tawau: A total of 123 people were arrested during a Special Ops Cantas for various offences at six locations from 4-9pm on Monday.

District Police Chief, ACP Awang Besar Dullah said 73 men aged between three and 60, and 47 women aged between 13 and 44 were detained for immigration offences. He said another three men aged between 21 and 30 were also apprehended for suspected narcotic offences.

"They were picked up from Kg Ice Box Baru, Mile 5 Tinagat, Mile 10 Apas Road, Ba Zhong Commercial Centre, Sabindo and Fajar Complex.

"They will be investigated under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952," he said on Tuesday.

Awang Besar said all the other detainees were referred to the Immigration Department for further action.

He said the integrated operation also involved Marine Police, Immigration Department, Volunteer Police Reserve (Sukarelawan Simpanan PDRM - SSPDRM) and General Operation Force (GOF).
