Maritime First Admiral, Wan Mohd Affandi Wan Ahmad, said this followed a report from the public about a suspicious-looking trawler about 10am on Monday. The crew, all Filipinos, found on the trawler were aged between 20s and 30s.
"We found 18 harpoons as well as drug paraphernalia inside the trawler along with two tonnes of fish and lobsters," he said, adding that seven of the crew were found hiding in the engine room.
Wan said the crew are currently being remanded for 14 days for further investigations under the Fisheries Act 1985 Section 8(a), Fisheries Act 1985 Section 26(a), Dangerous Drugs Act Section 15(1)(a) and Immigration Act 1959/63 Section 6(1)(c).
