Man held for threatening colleague with machete

Keningau: Police here detained a local man who threatened his colleague with a machete at a factory in the Sook sub-district here recently.

District Police Chief DSP Robert Salisip David said preliminary investigations showed that the man got angry when his colleague told him to stop honking for too long, resulting in him pointing the machete three times towards his colleague's abdomen. Robert said police confiscated the machete and remanded the man for further investigations under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

In an unrelated case, a 15-year-old boy was detained for having a meat cleaver in his possession, after buying it from a shopping premises here on May 2.

He said the intoxicated youth caused a scene when he wielded the knife near a hotel here.

"Preliminary investigations showed that prior to the incident, the youth was seen drinking behind a building and was instigated to a fight by an unknown group. This prompted the young man to go into the shopping premises in search of a weapon," he said.

He said the boy has been remanded for further investigations.
