Fire and Rescue district operations head here, Jaafar Salleh, said the department received a distress call at 7.30pm and deployed 13 firefighters with two fire engines to the scene.
He said the cause of fire and losses are still under investigation.
Kunak District Council Executive Officer Mohd Nazri Pintal said the Council's office would be temporarily placed at a premises next to the community hall here.
He said the gutted first floor comprised his office, enforcement unit, administration office and several other units, among others.
Based on preliminary inspection, he said almost 80 per cent of the office equipment had burnt down.
Other premises like a private clinic, a bookstore, a clothing shop and a retail shop, among others situated next to the council's office, were not affected by the fire.
