Flood cuts off 1,000 in Nabawan
Published on: Friday, May 16, 2014

NABAWAN: About 1,000 villagers in Kg Pamuntarian here are stranded again when the water level rose and submerged the only road that links the village to the township.

Its headman, Bangkit Ewot, said the road was often flooded after heavy rain, especially during the rainy season.

He said the villagers had on many occasions called for the road to be upgraded but no action has been taken so far.

"The water level that continues to rise has also flooded SK Puntarian in the village and caused teachers and pupils unable to go to the school.

"We have been facing for a long time this problem which badly affects our lives and feel disappointed that no action seems forthcoming to resolve the problem," he said, Thursday. Bangkit once again urged the relevant authorities to take immediate action to resolve the problem.
