Fire and Rescue Station Head here, Jamaludin Hussin said they received a distress call at 3.32pm about a 40-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man who was trapped on the other side of the river.
"The couple went for recreational activity at the river at Kg. Kibunut at 1pm and the high tide and the rapid current make it difficult for them to cross the river.
"The couple sought help from a group of teenagers on the other side of the river whom later contacted us for help," he said, Tuesday.
Jamaludin said they used ropes and life jackets to save the couple.
He said the woman was rescued at 4.36pm while the man at 4.45pm.
