Flash floods and mishaps

Kota Kinabalu: Two motorists sustained injuries after losing control of their vehicles under rainy conditions at about 5.30pm, Saturday.

A 37-year-old man behind the wheels of a Proton Saga heading here from Petagas overturned on the trunk road opposite the railway station at Tanjung Aru, causing a massive traffic jam. He was sent to the hospital.

At the same time, another man in his 20s who was driving a Perodua Viva also sustained light injuries when he lost control of the wheel and rammed a street light before ending up in a small drain-cum-road divider at Penampang Bypass.

The driver and three passengers including a woman were heading from Penampang to here.

Initially, the driver was trapped but his friends helped pull him out of the car.

Firefighters who were alerted found the driver and his three friends safe outside the vehicle.

Many parts of the state capital also experienced flash floods.
