He said the 1Malaysia concept was necessary in building a harmonious, peaceful and prosperous nation.
"The State Government always supports efforts to widen the people's knowledge and comprehension of the 1Malaysia concept.
"We are confident that this approach does cater to the concerns in nation building," he said while launching the State-level 1Malaysia Nationhood Narration Competition, here, Sunday.
His speech text was delivered by State Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister Datuk Zakaria Mohd Edris.
Meanwhile, the Trio Team from Tawau, comprising Muhammad Adzmin Ab Fatta, Amirul Afiq Abdullah and Mohd Fadhli Mohd Sulaiman, staved off five other teams to claim first prize in the competition.
The winners received RM3,000, a trophy and a certificate, and would represent Sabah at the national level in September.
Sabah Information Department Director Almain Ajirul said the competition was organised to inspire the community to present their narration on historic events, and historic personalities who had played a crucial role in nation building.
