Lahad Datu: A misunderstanding led to a man sustaining injuries after being punched repeatedly in the face by a Kg Membatu villager, at Jalan Tungku, here.

The 37-year-old, Mohd Masrik Ingkat, claimed the incident took place in his house at Kg Membatu at about 11.30am.

He claimed that the villager came to his house and accused him of calling him 'anjing' (dog) before punching him repeatedly despite him denying the accusations.

"I did not fight back because he is an old man and I respect him, I just let him punch me without fighting back.

"However, shortly after the incident, I lodged a police report at the district police headquarters at about 4.20pm," he said when met on Wednesday.
