Airport drill in KK

Kota Kinabalu: Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd (MASB) held a full-scale crash exercise involving 300 personnel from various enforcement and relevant departments operating at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) from 10.30am until 12.05pm on Tuesday.

MASB Senior Manager Sunif Naiman said the main objective of the training was to test the Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) including effectiveness of duties and responsibilities of various enforcement authorities and agencies and activating the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Air Disaster Unit (ADU) and simulation meeting of 'victims' and their families.

He said the emergency response by the authorities and coordination among them was commendable.

In the drill, he said they attended to 20 'dead' passengers and 15 who suffered serious 'injuries' and 13 with 'light injuries'.
