AirAsia BIG eyes 20m members in 2-3 years

Kuala Lumpur: Think Big Digital Sdn Bhd, which owns and operates AirAsia and Tune Group's loyalty programme, AirAsia BIG, aims to double its members to 20 million in the next two to three years. Chief executive officer Alice Goh said achieving the target should not be difficult given the region's expanding population, increasing size of the middle class community and growing trend of traveling as a lifestyle. As part of the new brand strategy launch, AirAsia and AirAsia BIG have merged their members' database, resulting in a huge growth in membership from one million BIG members to 10 million.

"BIG members can enjoy a much wider range of benefits and perks, including earning and redeeming points on AirAsia flights and BIG Partners around the region. "Our loyalty programme allows members to not only redeem free flights for themselves with the accumulated BIG points, they can also redeem flights for their friends and family," she said Goh said if members did not have sufficient points to redeem a particular flight, unlike other loyalty programmes, AirAsia BIG allowed members to top up the balance by cash. Besides AirAsia and the Tune Group, Big members can also earn points when transactions are performed at AirAsia Big's 150 partners such as Petronas, Paradigm Mall, Getaway@klia2 and Metrojaya.

"We target to add at least five to ten partners a year. We welcome as many partners as possible as this gives our members the opportunity to earn more points," she added.
