Badminton championship on Aug 29

Kota Kinabalu: The Inaugural Flypower AST Badminton Invitation Championship is set to take place at the Likas Indoor Stadium from Aug 29-Sep 1.The four-day event is organised by AST Badminton Club and according to organising chairman Alan Tan, 16 events will be held comprising men novice singles and doubles, Veteran doubles with the combined age 80 & above and combined age 90 & above, boys and girls singles & doubles for the under 16,13 and 10 age groups.He said the tournament will be based on a 31 points system where the players will need to change side once they reach 16 points and there will be no deuce.

Tan also said all top four winners in each category will receive Flypower equipments and medals while the top four winners in the novice singles and doubles, veteran events will also collect additional cash prize of RM600, RM300, RM150, RM150 respectively.Tan urged those who are interested to take part in the event and entry fees are RM20 for the boys/girls singles, RM40 for the boys/girls doubles, RM30 for the novice singles and RM60 each for the novice doubles and the two veteran doubles.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
