Tian Bing and Lorna capture singles titles at Tuaran Table Tennis C'ship

Kota Kinabalu: SM All Saints' Lee Tian Bing, 14 and Lorna Law took the Men and Women Open Singles titles respectively during the Tuaran Table Tennis Championship, which ended at the Tuaran Table Tennis Training Centre, Kg Bawang, Tamparuli, near here, over the weekend.Besides taking the Men Singles title, Lee also took the Men Open Doubles title with his elder brother, Lee Tian Jiang. The brothers defeated Lazimih Bin Dihing and Rasmin Muntiol 3-1 during the finals.Meanwhile, Law also took the Women Veteran Singles title and the Women Open Doubles titles with partner Chia Yen Ting to become the most gold medal winner of the competition - besides taking home a bronze medal together with Lee Chee Fat in the Mix Doubles category.

The Men Bumiputera Singles title went to Rasmin Muntiol, second place went to Wallinton Lansangan and joint third went to Lazimih Bin Dihing and Isidore Ignatius Simin. The Men Veteran Singles gold medal went to Sia Hock Chock, silver to Jainal Ahsoon, bronze went to Lee Chee Fat and Szeto Wing Yee.The tournament was organised by the Tuaran Table Tennis Association with an overwhelming response where the Men Singles Category managed to attract 16 players and a few new faces.According to the Association President, Lee Chee Fat, the association would like to thank everyone who has played a part in making the competition a success, especially to Nestle Products Sdn Bhd for sponsoring the Milo prizes.

He said the Association had started a regular table tennis training programme for young players and there are more than 30 primary school students from Tuaran taking part in the programme. "There were 54 primary students took part in the recent Tuaran Table Tennis age group competition.
