Kota Kinabalu: Unable to cope with peer pressure in school, a 15-year- old girl jumped off the first floor of a building here on Monday.City Police Chief ACP M. Chandra said the girl, however, survived the fall, which only knocked her unconscious with a fractured jaw and other injuries.

"According to the sister, at 10pm on Monday, the victim had asked the sister to accompany her when she went out to release her stress.

"The sisters climbed up to the first floor of the SME Bank building in Jalan Lintas Pendek, not far from their house in Kampung Ganang.

"After a while, the victim's sister wanted to go back home and went down first.

But while she was downstairs, the determined victim decided to throw herself down," he said, adding that the elder sister saw her fall.

Police were summoned to the scene at close to midnight and found the victim unconscious but still breathing. An ambulance rushed her to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Two.

The victim later told police that she jumped because of pressure from her classmates in her school in SMK Sanzac, Sembulan, said Chandra.

"Preliminary tests showed that the victim had suffered injuries on her jaw but will be sent for x-ray to determine if she has any other injuries," he said.

Medical treatment on the victim is ongoing.
