Keningau: Star Sabah Chief, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said Malaysia's politics must be based on the Constitution and not based on emotion in order to build a stable country."Doing things based on emotion will make it very difficult to administer the country and in the end create chaos as well as dissatisfaction among the people," he said. However, he called on the people to be patient and urged the Federal government to handle the political crisis in Selangor in accordance with the Constitution.

Dr Jeffrey who is also Bingkor Assemblyman said that although the crisis happened in Selangor there is a possibility of it spreading to other states in the country if the leaders failed to adhere to the Constitution."The Malaysian Government is a democratic government and its leaders are chosen by the people. Whoever has the majority in the State Assembly and Parliament should form the government."The country's head such as King or Sultan only follows the decision of the Parliament or State Assembly. This is the concept in forming the government based on the law and constitution that had been established since the colonial era," he said.In the case of Selangor, Dr Jeffrey was puzzled that the Sultan can ask the ruling party to name their leader to form the State government.

"If this can happen then it would be meaningless to form a party or the State Assembly because they have no power to form the government even though they are elected by the people," he said.It was reported that Pakatan Rakyat had been asked to submit more than two candidates to replace Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim who offered his resignation to the Sultan of Selangor on Tuesday.
