Maznah and Chenderamata receive awards at event

Sandakan: Recipient of the Tokoh Wanita Award 2014, Datuk Maznah Abdul Ghani, is from Membakut and holds an Economics degree. The mother of seven is the chairperson of the Sabah Government Employees Cooperative Society Bhd (Kopeks) and Sabah Women Cooperative and is also the former Deputy State Secretary (Administrative) for eight years.

She has conducted various activities in her efforts towards community and women socio-economy development and was also appointed as the Ahli Pelawat Ser Puteri which shows her concern towards issues in the community.

Since her retirement, she has been move active in implementing cooperative activities particularly last year when Kowani achieved revenue up to 80 per cent from previous years including being able to buy Bank Rakyat shares worth RM100,000 and obtain government projects.

She has also succeeded in rebuilding Kopeks which at that time was faced with various problems and successfully added the revenue as well as have investment shares for company asset.

She was the recipient of several awards from the State Government, among which was the Gelaran Kurniaan ADK in 1997, ASDK in 1999, Sabah Excellent Woman Award 2011, Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (P.G.D.K) and Tokoh Maulidur Rasul (Women's Category) in 2010.

She was also the recipient of the Kesatria Mangku Negara (K.M.N) from the Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negara in 2003 and the Johan Setia Mahkota (J.S.M) in 2009.

This Tokoh Wanita Award 2014 recipient received RM10,000, a trophy and a certificate at the State-level Women's Day 2014 celebration held at Four Points By Sheraton Hotel here, on Saturday.

Kota Belud-born, Chenderamata Hj Sinteh is the recipient of the Excellent Woman Award 2014. She has a Social Science degree and received RM5,000, a trophy and a certificate.

The mother of three is Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd Human Resource General Manager and is actively involved in the Persatuan Wanita SESB (SESWANIS) where she is the Deputy Chairperson.

She is also the Sabah Netball Association President and Malaysia Netball Association Vice President.

Apart from encouraging association members to enhance their knowledge through various activities, she also succeeded in setting up Tadika Kemas at the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd headquarters and in Kota Belud.

She is also active in organising netball championships at State-level as well as National-level.

Chenderamata is also the Pertubuhan Sabah Bajau Bersatu (USBO) Deputy President and has also been elected as the Sponsor Chairperson for the Persatuan Taska Bahasa Warisan Sabah which objective is to preserve dialects and languages in Sabah.

She was the recipient of Tokoh Belia Wanita Sabah in 2000 and was awarded the Bintang Setia Kinabalu in 1998 and Ahli Darjah Kinabalu in 2004.
