Man fails in bid to steal from ATM

Kota Kinabalu: A masked man entered the Am Bank automated-teller machine (ATM) room in Damai Plaza, sprayed four CCTV cameras with white paint before attempting to pry open one of the machines.There was no security guards at the time of the incident at the ATM room but the bank's central security in Kuala Lumpur noticed it and contacted the security here.Confirming the case, City Police Chief, ACP M. Chandra said the last recording of the CCTV cameras before it was blacked out by the spray was a masked man wearing T-shirt with a cartoon picture and also wearing a glove with black trousers entering the room at 4.19am.

Police rushed to the scene at about 6am and found one of the machines being pried open but was unable to steal any money.Chandra urged those with information on the incident to contact Insp Jakariya Julpakal at 013-8571881.
