Tenom: The Sabah Government Teachers' Union (KGKS) and Headmasters' Council (MGS) on Tuesday urged the Ministry of Education to not impose on Sabahan pupils the directive that UPSR pupils re-sit the UPSR English papers.President of KGKS, Hussin Basir, said the pupils have all sat for the English papers in Sabah and that there was no report saying that Sabah was involved in the leaked papers.

Nevertheless, both KGKS and MGS expressed full support to the statement by Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that the leaked UPSR papers incident was an act of treason by irresponsible quarters and aimed at sabotaging the National Education System.

"Those who were wrong are wrong and they deserve to be given punishment," Hussin said, adding that an appeal letter will be sent to the Ministry.

He said the leaked papers incident impacted a lot of aspects such as the pupils' psychology.

Apart from that, he said, the pupils' parents would also have to incur extra expenses.

States that were not involved in the leaked UPSR papers also have to incur extra cost, he said.

On the other hand, he stated that the Sijil Rendah Ugama (SRU) for Sabah would be conducted on Oct 16-18.
