Muslim NGO denies its operations are sinister

Kota Kinabalu: The Al-Baghdadi Foundation has denied any wrongdoing in its activities and said its main objective is to eradicate Al-Quran illiteracy among Muslims in the country.In a statement, the NGO said it was established on Nov. 16, 2011 and had actively been collecting funds for its activities from the public."Our aims are to provide free al-Quran education using Al Baghdadi technique to converts, orphans, natives and the underprivileged, conduct activities to raise awareness on the importance of learning and teaching al-Quran and forge collaboration with other parties in eradicating al-Quran illiteracy in the country," said the NGO's representative, Rita Radin.

The foundation was responding to a recent statement by Assistant Minister in Chief Minister's Department Datuk Mohd Ariffin Mohd Arif who said that he would ask Sabah Islamic Affairs Department (Jheains) to investigate the Foundation that operates from Semporna.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Al-Baghdadi coincidentally happens to be also the name of the "caliph" as proclaimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis), a terror group in Iraq that is notorious for beheading hostages.According to Rita, the foundation will be organising courses, workshops, seminars, forums and conventions on al-Quran education.
