Tawau: Malaysian and Indonesian governments have always cooperated with each other in their efforts to eradicate human trafficking. Indonesia's Ambassador (Extr-ordinary and Plenipotentiary) to Malaysia, Marsekal Herman Prayitno, said both sides were working hard to curb such activities.

"Although this would take time, we believe, with the help of all parties, including employers, we will be able to contain the problem," he said.

Herman said this during a courtesy call on Tawau Municipal Council (MPT) President Datuk Ismail Mayakob, here.

Also present were General Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia Delegation to Tawau, Mohammad Soleh, and Council Deputy President, Tai Yun Wu.

Meanwhile, Herman said several steps have and will be taken in ensuring the two-way relationship between the people from both countries continues to improve, including business relations, sports and tourism between the neighbouring countries.

"Efforts to ensure our relationship in the business aspect, for example, had always been the main focus of both countries," he said.

In other developments, Herman urged Indonesians to honour the laws of Malaysia, especially in ensuring they have valid identification documents.

Regarding his visit to Tawau, he said the visit is hoped to further strengthen the relationship between Tawau and Indonesia's neighbouring districts.
