Jeffrey: DO wrong in making such statement

Keningau: Uhim WongSTAR Sabah Chief Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan called for the transfer of District Officer Haji Yusof Osman for saying that the opposition are not allowed to use government facilities."I want to know if the statement is his own or was directed by his higher-ups. If so, name them or I will take the matter to court," said Dr Jeffrey.ADVERTISEMENT Yusof was reported in a local newspaper that government policy does not allow any opposition party to enter the compound of government offices for rallies and special events.As for visiting the Oath Stone, Haji Yusof had said it could only be done during office hours on Mondays to Fridays, except public holidays.However, he said, on Sept 16, despite being a public holiday, Dr Jeffrey had wanted to enter the compound not for the purpose of visiting but to hold a ceremony on the Oath Stone that is not approved for public holidays.Yusof had said that the application was also made under the Star Party.ADVERTISEMENT Dr Jeffrey said that as the Assemblyman for Bingkor he has the right to carry out his duty as entrusted by the people."Even though I am the leader of Star I am also a leader of the people and I have the right to hold the memorial ceremony on the historical day of Sept 16.

The Oath Stone memorial should have been opened on Sept 16 to give opportunity to the people and tourists to pay a visit."Is it only exclusive for the government? Is it not for the people?" he asked.
