PM has proven himself: Hisham
PAPAR: Malaysians should not doubt or dispute the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak who has proven in the way he handled the MH17 crisis when he had successfully brought back the remains of the Malaysia victims and black box from Ukraine separatists.Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said many world leaders in awe with Najib for being so courageous and brave to deal with a top Ukraine separatist leader, Alexander Borodai.

"It is not US President Barrack Obama or Russian President Vladimir Putin who dealt with Borodai who kills people, but our PM and Umno President who met Borodai in eastern Ukraine.

"Through meetings and negotiations with Borodai, Najib used his own discretion and was able to soften the separatist until we were able to enter the crash site, and take back the black box.

Most importantly, Najib had been able to bring all the bodies and remains from the site," he said.

On July 17, the Malaysia Airlines MH17 that ferried 283 passengers and 15 crew members, including 43 Malaysians, was shot down by surface-to-air missile some two hours after departing from Schiphol airport in Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, with no survivors.

Hishammuddin, who is also Umno Vice-President, said this in his speech during a special meet cum dinner gathering organised by Umno Papar at a hotel here.

Also present were Umno Papar Divisional Chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Ismail, his deputy Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar cum State Infrastructure Development Assistant Minister, Federal Works Deputy Minister cum Papar MP Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, State Youth and Sport Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan, Umno Papar Vice Chief Datuk Juil Nuatim and Umno Beaufort Chief Isnain Aliasneh, among others.

"Najib is truly putting people's interest at heart…because when I congratulated him for his bravery and asked what made him do that, he said it was a promise which he made to the families of the victims of MH17 that he will bring back the remains of their loved ones.

Hishammuddin said the Barisan Nasional Government under Najib would seek justice for the MH17 victims from various nationalities.

He said Najib is also determined to investigate and bring to book those responsible for downing MH17.

He said Najib's way handling two crisis – MH370 and MH17 – received praises from world leaders like Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot which recognised Najib's outstanding leadership.

"If Abbot can give such recognition to Najib, Malaysians should also do the same," he said.

Hishammuddin assured efforts to search for MH370 would continue until the plane is found.

The MH370 Boeing 777 aircraft could not be detected on the radar on March 8 when it flew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 227 passengers and 12 crew on board.

"People asked me how I managed to handle the pressure from 200 foreign media that shot me with many challenging, weird and repeated questions as well as from our national media in real time across the world during the crisis?

"It is not because of my good command of English when answering their questions…but my secret is my du'a (prayer) before I went up to the stage for the press conference.

"I did not pray to be able to answer all the media questions well…but I pray to the Almighty Allah to give me strength and not to let words coming out from my lips that will embarrass Malaysia," he said.

As for Sabah, he assured that the Federal Government will not compromise on the State's security and will continue to protect and defend the State's sovereignty from any threats.
