Kota Kinabalu: The affected shops and upper floor residential units at Taman Suria in Penampang have expressed worry about the serious damage to the caved-in road that is close to their building. They expressed their concern to MCA Complaints Bureau Chief Margaret Lim who in turn brought it up to the attention of MCA Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu to seek his help to resolve the matter.

This case was reported almost a year ago but still pending further action to remedy the road settlement to its original level.

The cause of the settlement is still to be determined but it is apparent that there is no further settlement according to the tenants here.

Advising that there should not be any finger pointing until the investigation is completed, Hiew assured that appropriate action will be taken to make good the condition here.

Further to this, he informed the people he will contact the relevant authorities like the Penampang District Council, Ministry of Local Government and Housing, the DID, JKR, and also the developer concerned to come to a meeting to discuss the steps to rebuild the collapsed portion.

The residents are worried that their building and homes would become unsafe and that they would be advised to move out.

Eva Hiew, owner of one of the affected units hoped the situation can be made good early, so that she can live there without fear and worry.

She said that the only way to achieve this, is for all parties to work together.

Hiew promised to make arrangements for a meeting as soon as possible.
