KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Women's Advisory Council (MPWS) takes pride in the latest achievement of Datin Alexandra Chin who was appointed as Deputy President of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) recently. Its Chairperson, Datuk Mariati Robert, said MPWS was happy to note that women, who had previously served in the Council, were now going up the ranks in their respective professions.

"Alexandra is a former member of MPWS. We congratulate her on her appointment which marks a step closer to becoming President of the global body for professional accountants. That would happen next year.

"Women in Sabah, especially those in the same field, should look up to her as a role model and iconic source of inspiration," she said.

Mariati, who is the State Attorney-General, said Alexandra distinctly exemplifies that accountants in Sabah have what it takes to make an impact at the global level.

"We wish her every success in undertaking a new and challenging responsibility," she added.

Last year, Chin became the first woman from Asia to serve as the Global Vice-President with the ACCA for the 2013-2014 term.

She was also actively involved in the Sabah Branch of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia.

And she had served the State Government as a member of the Board of Trustees of Sabah Parks, Sabah Sports Board and now the Sabah Tourism Board.
