Pemudah has saved RM900m in business compliance cost: MPC

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Special Task Force to Facilitate Business (Pemudah) has saved nearly RM900 million in business compliance cost through the Modernising Business Licensing (MBL) programme.Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) Deputy Director General Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman said MPC's Focus Group on Business Process Re-engineering in Business Licensing (FGBPR) aims to reduce bureaucracy and simplify business-related procedures in the country. The initiative is also in line with the plan to improve local authorities' delivery systems based on more dynamic ideas, systems and procedures, he said.

MPC will continue to support the National Key Economic Areas through abolishing irrelevant laws and requirements, he said, adding it has introduced various initiatives to improve regulations in Malaysia acording to Good Regulatory Practice.Speaking to reporters here Monday, he said the MBL initiative, introduced at Federal level in 2011, involves 23 ministries and agencies under the FGBPR's purview.As of August this year, 454 business licences have been simplified and 17 abolished, while 156 have been automated.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

Abdul Latif said in 2012, the MBL scheme was expanded to several states including Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Sarawak, Johor and Perak.
