Malindo aims to fly 2.25m passengers

SEPANG: Malindo Air aims to attract about 2.25 million passengers by year-end following the introduction of new routes, including to Singapore and Bandung, Indonesia, by November and mid-December, respectively.The hybrid airline's target is lower than the one made late last year, which aimed to achieve over three million passengers by end-2014.Chief executive officer, Chandran Rama Muthy, said late last year the airline had about one million passengers.

"Currently, we managed to get more than half of the target and since the last three months of the year are high peak season we are confident to achieve the target," he said.Chandran said this at a media briefing after the launch of Malindo's new ticketing office by Malaysia Airports Bhd's senior general manager (operations), Datuk Azmi Murad, at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) here Tuesday. He said Malindo operated six Boeing jets from KLIA2 and one each was expected to be delivered next month and in December respectively.
